As a part of a memorial to my great grandfather on the anniversary of his death, some of the family have planned a visit to Poland. His old house still stands, and you can apparently still see the groove on the window sill where the minora stood.
But since he was in a concentration camp at one point, it has been decided that we should do a holocaust museum. You see we are trying to piece together our history more completely, and since it was the holocaust that drove us to this country, we feel it is important.
So, can you tell me of a good museum in Poland? (Other than Auswitch that is-which is where he was). |

Other than Oswiecim (Auswitch).
1.MAJDANEK
This is lint to the www: http://www.majdanek.pl/?lng=1 (Englis language). The concentration camp in Lublin, popularly called Majdanek, was initiated by Heinrich Himmler’s decision. The camp was going to be the source of a free workforce for the realization of the plans to build a German empire in the east.Among an estimated 150,000 prisoners who entered Majdanek, 80,000 people, including 60,000 Jews, were killed according to the most recent research.
2.KL STUTTHOF (Sztutowo)
Here You are link: http://www.stutthof.pl/ (EN language). tutthof was the place where 110 000 people were kept: men, women and children; citizens of 25 countries and of 25 nationalities.During the imprisonment they were exposed to a number of exterminating factors such as slave-like work, malnutrition, terrible sanitation, disease, mental and physical torture. 65 000 people died as a result of exterminating living conditions as well as of executions by shooting, hanging, murdering in gas chambers by means of Cyclone B, killing by means of phenol injections into the heart, beating and torturing, and during evacuation by land and by sea.
That 2 museum I recommend You. |

This sounds like such a lovely (and bittersweet) trip and tribute to your great grandfather! Seeing a museum is a good idea, too. When will your trip be happening? |

| What a great way to remember your heritage. I am sure you will have great memories of Poland for years and of course, some sad ones. It might help you understand your grandfather better. |
